Smart Concrete (ICE Themes) brings together fascinating insights into this new and evolving field of concrete. In defining smart concrete as concrete that is capable of responding automatically to the actions imposed upon it, research has sought to develop concrete that is stronger, more sustainable and resilient. This assists the construction industry with improved whole life performance of concrete structures. With ICE Publishing material collated from key subject matter experts working in the field of concrete, Smart Concrete (ICE Themes) reveals how the field has evolved and shows how smart concrete may be used in the future.

It offers readers with a view of the key developments that have impacted the evolution of smart concrete such as
  • self-curing concrete
  • self-healing concrete
  • cementitious materials
  • sensor monitoring.
This book, which has been compiled by two leading experts in the field, will make an ideal addition to any library as a resource for researchers and students seeking an overview of the latest research on this topic.

Book Review

An informative book that presents the work of evolutionary thinkers about the new demands on what readers are drawn to believe will soon be an ancient material as we know it.
The book focused on extending the performance reliability period of future reinforced concrete infrastructures. It illuminates the possibility of tailored resurrection to some degree of the physical and mechanical properties of concrete prompted by crack propagation or damage detection. It presents an array of research on damaged concrete self-curing and self-healing using unhydrated cement grains aided by either the intrinsic characteristics of the cementitious mix design with and without embedded engineered sensors and composites, including bacteria spores in capsules and shells.
